Information Theory
Course: Quantum Information & Computation
Instructor: Dr. Colin Benjamin
Semester: 8th
A very fundamental paper on "Information Theory & Statistical Mechanics" was reviewed . It elucidated the versatile nature of statistical mechanics from the perspective of Information Theory. It reduced Stat Mech into a problem of constrained optimization of entropy.
Active Brownian Particles
Course: Soft Condensed Matter
Instructor: Dr. A V Anil Kumar
Semester: 8th
I worked on the recentmost paper on "Effective Cahn-Hillard Equation for Active Brownian Particles". I simulated the active fluid in 2D and got a intuitive idea about active phase separation. Details appertaining to the code are appended in the document.
Beam Theory & Cornu's Expt
Course: Modern Physics Lab- I
Instructor: Dr. Joydeep Bhattacharjee
Semester: 3rd
Analytically determined the Young's modulus, in terms of material composition, using Beam Theory. This was verified by carrying out the optical experiment by Cornu's method. Other methods were also proposed as can be referred in the attached file.
Term Papers
Some of the courses in NISER curriculam require a term paper presentation wherein students can delve deeper into a perticular topic they like in the course of study or experimentation.
